09:13 AM CST on Wednesday, November 19, 2008
GLEN CARBON, Ill. (AP) -- Services will be held this weekend for a southwestern Illinois man and his infant son, who were both killed in a hit-and-run accident reportedly involving a tow truck.
Authorities say 34-year-old Donald Lee Legens of Granite City was putting gas in his sport utility vehicle last Friday after the SUV became disabled on a Madison County road.
Police say that's when tow truck driver Mark Alan Ikerman hit the SUV from behind.
The accident Friday killed Legens and injured his 9-month-old son, Donald Legens Jr. The baby died Monday at a hospital.
Ikerman is charged with aggravated driving under the influence and causing the two deaths.
Services for the Legenses will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Irwin Chapel in Glen Carbon.
