ST. LOUIS (KMOV) -- A 37-year-old St. Louis man was fatally struck by an automobile Sunday morning in Franklin County, Mo., authorities said.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Craig Webb was walking along Highway O near Route N when he was struck by a 2000 Ford Escort being driven by Cody C. Collins, 23, of Gray Summit, Mo.

The patrol said the accident at 4:28 a.m. was caused by Collins’ “inattention.”

Webb was pronounced dead at the scene.
