Speeding blamed in wreck that killed 4

BELLEVILLE, Ill. (AP) -- A coroner's jury says speeding was to blame for a September car wreck that killed four people on a freeway near East St. Louis.
The St. Clair County jury found that Harry Hollingsworth III was driving over the 50-mph speed limit on when he suddenly braked for traffic ahead and his car hit a short retaining wall near the Poplar Street Bridge over the Mississippi River.
The car then flew over the wall, plunged to the ground and burst into flames.
Killed along with 33-year-old Hollingsworth of Madison, 31-year-old Anthony Brooks of Belleville, and two East St. Louisans, 31-year-old Thurmon Mumphard and 19-year-old Tramell Jackson.
Hollingsworth had a blood-alcohol level below the state's legal limit.
