Police investigating burned body found inside vacant home
09:16 AM CST on Monday, November 17, 2008
ST. LOUIS (KMOV) -- The charred body of a man was found Sunday inside a vacant Washington Park, Ill., home that was set ablaze, authorities said.
Police believe the man was severely injured or killed inside a home in the 1800 block of 60th Street, and then dragged across the street to the unoccupied home where his body was found.
The Illinois State Police Tactical Response Team executed a search warrant Sunday night at the home where the man was beaten or killed, but found no sign of a suspect.
Police also placed several evidence markers along a blood trail in the street where the man might have been dragged.
“We have a lot of people to interview (and) some neighborhood canvasses to do,” said Capt. Mark Bramlett, zone commander of the Illinois State Police in Collinsville.
Bramlett said authorities were working to positively identify the victim.
