At least two tipsters called police claiming they knew someone who could have done it and who had been acting suspiciously.
Those tips lead police to the cash, more than $100,000, and the suspects.
Police said Tongay worked for a company that did work at the racetrack.
Investigators believe he was the one holding the gun on the surveillance tape.
Tongay is already charged with another armed robbery in Madison County. He was supposed to go on trial in January.
According to police Cathy Lasich, Tongay’s aunt, also previously worked at the track.
