STANTON, Mo. (AP) -- A 21-year-old Illinois man is dead after drowning in the Meramec River near Meramec Caverns in eastern Missouri.

   The victim is Jess Lansaw of Greenfield, Ill.

   The incident happened Saturday night. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says Lansaw was tubing with friends when he began to swim. Friends saw him go under and resurface a couple of times before disappearing.

   Divers recovered the body at 12:38 p.m. Sunday.
