Funnel cloud spotted in St. Louis County
08:41 PM CDT on Tuesday, May 27, 2008
(KMOV) -- A Tornado Warning was issued for St. Louis City and St. Louis County, MO on Tuesday afternooon.
Those warnings were issued when trained spotters reported a funnel cloud at Page and I-170 in Overland.
A funnel cloud is basically a tornado that has not touched the ground yet.
The National Weather Service says that the system that produced this funnel cloud weakened as it moved east across the St. Louis area.
No damage has been reported.

This photo of the funnel cloud was taken at the Enterprise Leasing at 10144 Page just west of 170.
Funnel cloud! WHERE!?
Saw the funnel, and hoped it would come down and take the idiots from the road in front of me.
I saw nothing...I heard nothing. Thank god it did not hit me. I was at work in Maryland Heights. Way to go Maryland Heights! Thanks for the warning. I guess that is what you get when the un-educated run the city.
I didn't see squat because I was at work in a building with no windows but that didn't keep me from having a complete meltdown. A co-worker came in and said the sirens were blowing so I checked the NOAA website. When I saw where the funnel was sighted I freaked because--had that thing touched down and stayed on the ground for a few minutes--my home was on a direct trajectory. All I could think about were my pets and my elderly neighbors and there was nothing I could do to help either one of them. In retrospect, I had a tornado touch down even closer to my house several years ago and that didn't scare me nearly as much because I was home. Whatever happened I had immediate knowledge of it and could take immediate action. It's a lot scarier when you have no idea of what is occuring and your mind runs away on you because you feel so absolutely helpless.
Someone should contact 9700 page ave.
The Federal Records center. I overheard the Security Officers talking that they have the funnel cloud on surveillance Video from a camera mounted on the roof of the building.
I'm a server at Steak N Shake and this was RIGHT infront of our big windows everybody was just staring and all the customers were standing and everybody was calling their families to warn them..I'm not really into things like this but seeing this so UP close was really neat
I see a heck of alot of rain!!
My dad drives trucks, and he loves catching tornadoes.he called me and said it was pretty big and nasty looking.
It was raining too hard at Olive & I270 to see anything.
I work near Page and 170. The wind blew very hard for about 15-20 seconds, the lights blinked, then it was pretty much calm with a light rain like before the wind. No big deal at all. We had worse storms over the weekend.
I work at 9451 Natural Bridge at the wedge of 170 and 70. I saw a cloud that I briefly thought was a dispersing funnel cloud only to then hear the sirens and then reports of a spotting in my area! Set our whole office in a tizzy!
My dad and I had just left a customer and at Olive & Lindbergh, a large wall cloud was looming just to the west of us. Heavy rain was falling, and the western skies were pitch black. We travelled south on Lindbergh to Kirkwood, where there was only light rain and brighter skies.
