Darin Opel of Worden, IL bagged a 92 pound 8 ounce carp with a bow & arrow.

It happened in Alton, Illinois last Sunday.

The 40-year-old operations manager was hunting for fish on the Illinois side of the Mississippi.

He hit a giant Asian carp that measures 30 inches around and is 62 inches long - that's over five feet.

After trying to reel it in for about 10 minutes he jumped in after it and wrestled it to shore.

Opel is keeping the great fish on ice. Some of the tissue and bone samples are being sent to the U.S. Geological Survey.

An expert there believes this may be the largest carp caught by a recreational fisherman in the Western Hemisphere.

Opel is also going to submit information on the fish to Guinness Book of World Records.
