News 4 coverage: Flooding continues
(KMOV) -- Several counties in the News 4 viewing area are under a Flash Flood Watch.
A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until Tuesday morning for southern Warren, St. Charles, northern St. Louis, Franklin and southeastern Calhoun counties.
At 6:08 p.m. local law enforcement officials reported widespread flash flooding over the warned area.
Locations in the warning include but are not limited to Wright City, West Alton, Wentzville, St. Peters, St. Paul, St.
Charles, Portage Des Sioux, Orchard farms, O'Fallon, lake St. Louis, Dardenne Prairie and Cottleville.
The ground is already nearly saturated from previous rainfall, so this heavy rain could rapidly cause flash flooding very quickly.
In addition to the flash flood threat, the additional rainfall across area river basins will likely cause river levels to rise and could cause more river flooding across parts of southeast and east central Missouri.
Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross safely. Move to higher ground.
Stay tuned to KMOV.com and News 4 for the very latest on this developing weather situation.
