(KMOV)--Two men face first degree burglary charges after police say they snuck into a home on Waterfront Grove in St. Charles early Monday morning.
According to police, Mychael Hutsell and Christian King are accused of entering the home through an unlocked back door and taking a laptop and purse from a kitchen countertop. The homeowner contacted police after waking up the next morning and discovering that the items were missing.
Hutsell and King were arrested after the victim of another crime in St Charles County alerted the Sheriff's Office to stolen property listed for sale on-line.
County investigators met Hutsell and King in a motel room and found stolen property, including items stolen from the Waterfront Grove home. Investigators are working to determine where the other recovered property was taken.
St. Charles Police say that investigators identified a recent trend of burglaries at occupied homes. Police say many victims have left their doors or windows unlocked.
