SAUGET, Il. (KMOV) – A Sauget road has reopened after crews cleared the scene of an accident involving a  tanker truck Thursday night.

Police were forced to close Sauget Industrial Parkway, near the St. Louis Downtown Airport when a tanker truck and a car collided while navigating a curve.

The driver of the passenger car was pinned inside the vehicle, but emergency crews were able to get the driver out.  That driver was transported by helicopter to a nearby hospital.  Witnesses also say the driver was able to talk when rescuers got to the scene.

The driver of the tanker truck seemed to be okay after walking away from the crash.

Hazmat crews were at the scene to make sure the tanker was not damaged or leaking substance before towing it.
