Madison County couple charged with suffocating infant

(KMOV)-- A Madison County couple is charged with suffocating an infant.
 
Donald Miller, 22, and Heather Smith, 20, are charged with first degree murder and aggravated battery to a child.
 
The incident happened around 4 a.m. October 26th in the 600 block of Chouteau Ave. in Granite City.
 
Authorities said 3 month old Ashton Miller was placed face down to sleep for the evening on the couch. There were also multiple bruises and contusions on Ashton’s back, chest, face, and head.
           
Both suspects are being held on a $1 million bond.
