The growing Greystone Estates Subdivision in Shiloh saw one of it's newest structures destroyed around 1:15am Monday.
No one was hurt but the soon-to-be home is nothing but charged building materials over a foundation now. The fire caused some minor damage to the home next door but no one had to be evacuated.
This happened in the 1400 block of Simeon Drive off Westinghouse Drive.
I talked to a Shiloh firefighter who told me it's too early to know what caused the fire. Shiloh volunteer firefighters got help from firefighters in Lebanon and Fairview Heights.
Around 5:30am three construction workers showed up to work on the drywall today. They were surprised to see the home was gone. One of the guys told me this was to be a three-bedroom home that was going to be priced in the upper 200s.
He told me some of their equipment was destroyed in the fire. After walking around the debris for about 10 minutes, they left.
