Matt Chambers is a meteorologist, show host, producer, father, and husband. He joined KMOV in 2005, and his life has been a crazy but enjoyable whirlwind ever since! The Show Me State native’s family has tripled in size since settling in the St. Louis area. He and his wife Stephanie are raising four children (Isaac, Adelaide, Xavier, and Genevieve) in the Metro East.
Matt’s on-air role has gone through a metamorphosis as well. He started at KMOV as the weekday morning meteorologist. He still lends a hand in the 4Warn Storm Center when needed, but devotes most of his time to “Great Day St. Louis” as co-host and co-producer of the show. Since joining the Great Day team, he’s had live interviews with Robin Williams, Caroline Kennedy, Hulk Hogan, Cedric the Entertainer, Jon Hamm, Scott Bakula, Marlon Wayans, Lou Ferrigno, and Cloris Leachman, just to name a few. He’s also flown with the Air National Guard Aerobatics Team, mingled with Cardinals fans while impersonating the late great Harry Caray, visited haunted houses, worked out at the St. Louis Rams Training Academy, eaten his weight in bacon, and so much more.
A true science nerd at heart, Matt studied meteorology at the University of Missouri - Columbia, earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Soil & Atmospheric Sciences, along with a minor in mathematics. He still bleeds Tiger black and gold, and serves on the Alumni Advisory Council to the University’s School of Natural Resources.
Matt’s obsession with bacon earned him an Emmy nomination as host of the half-hour primetime special “In Search of Bacon.” His on-air talents have also been recognized by the Missouri Broadcasters Association with awards for “Best Weathercast” and “Best Children’s Programming.” The American Meteorological Society has given Matt the distinction of “Certified Broadcast Meteorologist.” He’s also a member of the National Weather Association.
Before joining the KMOV team, Matt previously worked with KOMU-TV 8 in Columbia, MO, and KRCG-TV 13 in Jefferson City, MO.
The Chambers family makes frequent trips across Missouri to visit family back home in St. Joseph. You might also run into them at the St. Louis Zoo, the Science Center, the Magic House, the local movie theatre, any park with slides and swings, the Lake of the Ozarks, or any number of other fun destinations across the bi-state area. Matt and Stephanie are also active in their local church parish.
