CHESTERFIELD, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- Crews battled a three-alarm fire at the Chesterfield Place apartment complex that started early Sunday morning.

Officials say they recieved a call about a fire on the 1400 block of Rialto Drive off of Olive Boulevard at 6:25 this morning.

Several residents had to be rescued by ladder because they were trapped on balconies of the four-story building. Residents say alarms did not go off inside the apartments, but in the hallways.

Five extra ambulances had to be called because the fire affected 30 occupied units in the complex. No serious injuries have been reported, however one firefighter suffered a minor knee injury.

Fire officials have released no information on the cause of the blaze.
