JACK WHITE RELEASES SONG VIA HELIUM BALLOON

NASHVILLE (AP) -- When musicians "release" records, it sounds like they're letting them go into the wild, doesn't it? Jack White really did that. White released his new song "Freedom at 21" on 1,000 flexi-disc records attached to blue helium balloons that he let go in Nashville on Sunday. Even though Sunday was April Fool's Day, it's no joke. White even used biodegradable latex balloons and all-natural twine. Similar balloon launches show a recovery rate of about 10 percent, so White will be pleased if 100 are found, making it a collector's item. One has been found in Tennessee and another in Alabama. White's solo album, "Blunderbuss," comes out April 24.
