ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – Stacey Dash, an African-American actress who starred in the ‘90s hit Clueless, got quite the backlash on Twitter over the weekend after she announced she’s supporting Mitt Romney in the November election.
“Vote for Romney. The only choice for your future. @mittromney @teamromney #mittromney #VOTE #voteromney,” Dash wrote on her official Twitter page with a photo attached of her posing with an American flag.
Presumed Obama supporters began insulting Dash for her endorsement not long after, with some bringing her race into the issue.
Some even said she isn’t “black” enough, with others asking if the actress would just “kill herself.”
“You’re an unemployed black woman endorsing @MittRomney. You’re voting against yourself thrice. You poor beautiful idiot,” tweeted Tretista Kelverian.
But Dash, who played Val on Season one of VH1’s “Single Ladies,” did not seem to be hurt by the cutting remarks.
“My humble opinion…EVERYONE is entitled to one,” she tweeted.
Others began voicing their support for the Dash, using the hashtag #ISupportStaceyDash.
The actress then retweeted two messages from other Twitter users.
“ALL ROMNEY Supporters, please follow&support @REALStaceyDash, it appears she’ll be voting for @MittRomney &she’s getting some heat over it!,” one retweet read.
The other retweet was a message from Romney himself.
“Women have had enough of @BarackObama’s disappointment. We need new leadership to get our economy growing again.”
