(CBS) -- Christian Bale says he’s hanging up Batman’s cape and cowl for good.

“Chris [Nolan] always said he wanted to make it one film at a time,” he added. “And we ended up sitting there looking at each other, saying ‘We’re about to make the third.’ We never really knew if we were going to get to be there, but if that was how it was going to be, this was where it should end as well.”

Bale also told EW he hasn’t been involved in any official talks about a “Justice League” coming to the big screen.

“I have no information, no knowledge about anything. I’ve literally not had a conversation with a living soul. I understand that they may be making a ‘Justice League’ movie, that’s it,” he said.

But Bale is ready to see someone else take on the role.

“It’s a torch that should be handed from one actor to another,” the Oscar winner said. “So I enjoy looking forward to what somebody else will come up with.”

Bale isn’t the only actor talking “Justice League” lately. Henry Cavill, who plays Clark Kent/Superman in “Man of Steel,” recently said he hopes a “Justice League” movie won’t happen right away.

After playing Bruce Wayne/Batman in Christopher Nolan’s “Dark Knight” trilogy, the actor is parting ways with the superhero—and won’t reprise the role in the upcoming “Justice League” movie.

“We were incredibly fortunate to get to make three [Batman films]. That’s enough. Let’s not get greedy,” Bale told Entertainment Weekly while promoting his upcoming drama “Out of the Furnace.”
