Missouri looks into possible bear attacks in Franklin County10:33 PM CST on Wednesday, March 5, 2008Previous story: Black bears may be to blame for recent attacks in Franklin County
Franklin County, MO (KMOV) - The State of Missouri is now looking into the growing suspicion that a bear may be attacking dogs in one rural town. In Robertsville and Lonedell officials are searching for any signs of a black bear, because of the rising fears that a bear may be attacking dogs. There's no doubt that something has viciously attacked three dogs, killing one in Lonedell in the past few weeks. Some residents are convinced a black bear is in these woods, and one veterinarian says the injuries are consistent with a bear. State officials however are not convinced another animal such as a bobcat or coyote could also be responsible. Officials with the Missouri Department of Conservation confirm there have been black bear sightings in this area.
