Metro-East police investigating strange hit and run accident
06:28 PM CDT on Thursday, August 7, 2008
(KMOV) -- Investigators are looking into a hit and run accident in the Metro-East.
It happened around 10:00 a.m. on Thursday on I-64 near I-255 in Caseyville, IL.
A woman driving westbound on I-64 apparently hit a man who was walking on the side of the road.
Paramedics rushed the man to SLU hospital in serious condition.
The woman reportedly got out of the vehicle with a small child, got into another vehicle with a man and left the scene.
She returned about an hour later with the man and the child.
Illinois State Police said they later learned the young woman never intended to try to get away with this.
The woman does not speak fluent English. She flagged down a ride for her and her little girl so the woman could get her husband to come back with them and translate.
