(KMOV)-- The Rams have played well enough to win in three of their four games. Sorry, I didn't think their second half performance at Oakland was good enough. It wasn't good at all, in fact. The Raiders' baffling decision to start throwing the ball with four minutes to play opened the door for the Rams. Without it, the Raiders would have coasted to the win.
So it's great that the Rams have played well enough to be 3-1. It's great that they have won two straight games. And it's really encouraging that they've won those games in dominating fashion. And, as I said after the Redskins game, the Redskins ARE a playoff contender. But, winning at home is just a start. Winning on the road is the next step.
I believe Sunday's game at Detroit is another winnable game. But Lions Head Coach Jim Schwartz is telling his team the same thing. And that will be a desperate Lions team Sunday. They are 0-4 despite playing all four opponents tough.
All this talk about winning the NFC West is silly at this point. I realize it's a bad division. It's been the worst division year in and year out since NFL re-alignment in 2002. Even so, until the Rams prove they can win on the road and win more than two consecutive games, we should probably hold off on post season talk. Let's let October play out and see where the Rams are after eight games. I'm sure Steve Spagnuolo is telling his players the same thing.
