(HockeyStL) -- I hate cliché’s but the one that strikes me after game five is, ‘better late than never.’ The Blues were out played for two plus periods, but showed resiliency, fought back, and now for the first time in ten years the Blues are headed to the Western Conference Semi-finals.

It was a strange feeling inside the dressing room after the game.  Instead of jumping around, popping champagne like players do in baseball when they advance in the playoffs, the Blues were relatively quiet; that’s a great sign.  After the game, the players were excited about what they accomplished thus far, but T.J. Oshie summed up the team’s feelings best.

“It’s been a long, hard battle, but we’ve worked hard to get to where we’re at, and we’re proud of ourselves, but we don’t want to stop here,” said Oshie.

David Perron said Saturday’s win was nice, but it wasn’t just about the team.

“It’s for the fans; it’s all about the fans.  They’ve been with us for a real long time supporting us,” Perron said.

Who the Blues will play in the next round could be determined Sunday when Vancouver and Los Angeles meet for game five.  The Kings lead the best of seven series three games to one.  Either way the Blues have home ice advantage in the next round.
