After losing Sears and Dillard's, I've heard complaints from shoppers who said the Jamestown Mall needs new life and new stores. St. Louis County has stepped in to partner with Dover Kohl & Partners, a Florida company, to come up with a master plan for redeveloping the mall.

Right now, the financing has not yet been lined up. The group says it is seeking public input, then coming up with a design, then seeking financing.

Starting tonight, the county will help host a design session which will give the public an opportunity to draw out their own ideas.

Thursday, September 9th from 6-9 p.m. in the student center multi-purpose room at St. Louis Community college-Florissant Valley.

The group will also offer people a chance to participate in an open design studio session from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, September 10th - Monday, September 13th.

An open house is planned for Saturday, September 11th from 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

A final presentation is next Tuesday, September 14th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

In July, hundreds of people attended a public meeting to offer input on the future of the mall. The Florida company said they were thinking of making the Jamestown Mall an urban lifestyle center to mixed reviews.
