ALTON, Ill. (KMOV) -- U.S. Marshals and police in Alton, Illinois are searching for a man suspected of murdering another man during an attempted robbery in Alton on December 7.
Larry Belk, 20, has been charged with murder and attempted armed robbery, but he is still at large. Police say his suspected accomplice, 19-year-old Nigel Generally, was arrested in St. Louis on Thursday morning. He is also charged with murder and attempted armed robbery. Bond for both men has been set at $1 million.
Alton Police Chief David Hayes says investigators believe Belk and Generally approached 23-year-old Tyler Hoppe outside his home on Hampton Avenue on December 7th. Around 8:20 p.m., investigators say they believe the suspects tried to rob Hoppe and shot him in the head. Investigators do not believe the suspects knew the victim.
Anyone with information on Belk's location is asked to call police.
