Today I went to a school that "didn't" close for snow. In fact, Mary Queen of Peace rarely closes for weather. I talked to the principal, who told me parents at that school expect their children to attend and administrators try to make that happen. It is a Catholic school, doesn't operate busses, and doesn't have some of the transportation safety concerns that public schools and those operating bus systems do. I talked to several students. One said she was hoping for a snow day, but another said if he goes one more day to school he will be that much more educated that others. Clearly, I was a slackoff in school. I was firmly in the camp of praying for snow days. And in South Carolina... they didn't come very often.
