Police in Berkeley are trying to track down a man who robbed the Hustler Hollywood store - dressed as a woman. Chief Frank McCall says the man was likely trying to confuse witnesses and stall police, but customers and the store clerk were not fooled. The robber had facial hair, but wore caked on makeup, and a long dress.
He walked into the store around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday. The robber took a bottle of lotion to the register, waited in line, paid, then pulled a long barreled pistol from the waistband of his dress.
The robber also grabbed the clerk by her neck and pushed the gun into her face. The robber eventually took the entire cash drawer and fled the store.
Police, who took a close look at surveillance video, say the suspect is a black man of average height and weight.
Last Friday afternoon, police in Jennings say that a man (also dressed as a woman) held up the Work Wear for Less store on Halls Ferry. The man also carried a long-barreled weapon and witnesses reported that he fled the scene in a maroon or red older-model compact car.
If you have any information, call Jennings or Berkeley Police. Police say that any small detail may help crack the case.
