(KMOV) -- At the corner of Market and 14th Streets in downtown St Louis, crews are constructing an outdoor skating rink. The Peabody Opera House is behind the new addition, opening the week of Thanksgiving.
"We really think this is going to be an exciting opportunity to bring the whole neighborhood to life during the holidays," said John Urban, executive vice president of events for the Peabody Opera House.
The opera house hired Ice Rink Events to build the rink in Schiller Park. The platform has been constructed and crews are now making ice. An exact opening date has not been set, but the opera house expects the rink will by ready early next week.
Urban says admission will cost $6 a person, plus $4 to rent skates. He added there would be discounts for groups and seniors.
The Rink in Monsanto Grove at the Peabody Opera House will remain open through mid-January.
