(KMOV) -- Country Club Hills is the latest community in the St. Louis Metro to set up a speed camera.
As of this Thursday, anyone caught driving over the speed limit of 40 miles per hour on Lucas and Hunt will receive a $100 ticket in the mail.
On Tuesday, the County Club Hills’ Police Chief, Clifton Ware, said that the camera is to ensure public safety, not generate revenue for the city. Chief Ware says on average, speeders travel more than 10 miles per hour over the posted speed limit.
Country Club Hills has a population of 1,300, and officers patrol about a one tenth of a mile stretch of Lucas and Hunt. Country Club Hills is in north St. Louis County.
