Missouri AG holds mortgage help meetings

(KMOV) -- The Attorney General and an Assistant Attorney General met with people in St. Louis on Monday to offering help in undestanding a $25 billion dollar national mortgage settlement with five major lenders.

More meetings are scheduled across the area this week.

The settlement with Bank of America, Wells Fargo, JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, and Ally Financial (GMAC) is meant to force lenders to do more to help people who are underwater stay in their homes. Lenders would also have to pay people who have already lost their homes between January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2011 around $2,000 each.

The meetings with the AG's office kicked off on Monday, March 26th in St. Louis City.

St Louis County holds meetings at noon and 6 PM on March 28th at the St. Louis County building at 41 S. Central Avenue in Clayton.

The AG's Office will be in St. Charles County on March 29th at the St Charles County Administration Building at 201 N. Second Street.

In Jefferson County, the meeting is at noon on March 30th at the Jefferson County Administrative Center at 729 Maple Street in Hillsboro.

Meetings are also held in Warren County, Pike County, and Phelps County.
