I have met many courageous people over the years, but there is nothing quite as humbling as getting to know a child battling a deadly disease. In every case, these children showed the kind of bravery I would expect to find in a soldier going to war. I met Jessie Kuebler six months ago in her hospital room. She was fighting cancer in her brain and spine.
Jessie was diagnosed with cancer two months after she was born. She endured incredible pain, but was brave, happy and deeply loved. As I left her hospital room I prayed for her recovery and hoped that I could face death with her courage. Jessie's family has received tremendous support, but they say more financial help is needed to offset some of the costs associated with her care. Here's the contact information for a fund set up to assist them.
