St. Louis County Police Chief Timothy Fitch said that anyone who suspects a police officer might not be a licensed police officer in Missouri can contact the St. Louis County Police Intelligence Unit at 314-615-4692.

He said they'll be able to check on the officer's status with POST, the state Department of Public Safety's Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission.  This is the agency that makes sure officers have the proper training and maintain that training as professional law enforcement officers.

The chief said that a badge not enough, because he believes too many smaller departments are ignoring the licensing process or fail to check on it.
