(KMOV)--Central County Fire and Rescue is looking to update its outdated fire station by building a new one about a half a mile away.  That half mile is south of I-70.  The current station is north of I-70.  The chief says 97% of their calls are south of I-70 so the new station would improve response times for most people in the area.

The new station would be built at 109 McMenamy Road.  The St. Peters Senior Center is at 108 McMenany Road.

Thursday from 3pm to 7pm the Senior Center will be the site of a community input session on the new fire station.  People can come and go during that time, ask questions and make comments.

Those who can't make it to that can go to the Central County Fire and Rescue District's website at www.centralcountyfire.org and learn more about it and leave comments.

The station could cost of to $2-million and could open sometime in 2013 but at this point it's not a sure thing... but a likely thing.
