Westbound drivers on Olive at New Ballas will be in view of Creve Coeur's latest red light camera. It is the fourth one in that town, and more are planned. Police say injuries from accidents are down 45%, and over the last year, red light violations are down 40%.
They attribute the decreases to the cameras. We did talk to some people who don't like the cameras, think they are unconstitutional and increase the risk of being rear ended. (Police say there's no evidence of that) Police do say the cameras are a better way to enforce red lights, because its hard for an officer to observe the violation and get through traffic and pull the offender over safely.
