The three year contract of Valley Park superintendent David Knes pays his a salary of $159,537 during the 2010-11 school year. His pay raise during the next two years of his contract will equal the average raise for the district' s certified staff. He also receives a $525 a month auto allowance. His most generous benefits are the apparently unlimited amount of days off that he can bank. Knes receives 15 sick days every year, 25 vacation days (five weeks) and 3 personal days, which adds up to 43 days per year. Let's assume he uses three weeks of vacation per year and never takes a sick day. If Knes left after 9 years he would have 252 days in the bank, which means he would get paid the equivalent of this year's salary, $159,537, for those unused days.
