Highland, Illinois Superintendent Mike Sutton has a five year contract that pays his a salary of $134,616.95 during the 2010-11 school year. Last year, the district paid him an additional $31,000 in benefits, including $17,012.85 in pension contributions, and a $300 auto allowance. His total compensation for last year was roughly $165,000. The district's enrollment is about 3,100. Highland has seven schools.

One other thing worth noting; Sutton has an Assistant Superintendent, but she earns less in salary and benefits than the business manager, the high school principal and one of the assistant principals, which is extremely rare, if not unheard of in the metro area.
