***Update 3-10-2011***** Now the Weather Service has determined 21 tornadoes hit the area on Feb. 27th. Click here for the details and any further updates. As of writing this blog 2 tornadoes were determined in Western St. Louis County, but now that number is 5! 4 EF1 tornadoes and 1 EF0. The paths were very short and in most cases damaged or uprooted trees in or near Babler State Park.
This also means we had 33 tornadoes if you combine the New Year's Eve event and this February 27th outbreak. Our area averages 13 a year.

17 tornadoes are now confirmed from the severe weather that hit Sunday February 27th into the early morning hours of February 28th.
Two recently confirmed tornadoes were in Western St. Louis County in Babler State Park. These were EF0 and EF1 tornadoes, Extensive tree damage was found along with some large trees uprooted.

On New Year's Eve we had 12 tornadoes across the area. Which means in the past two months we've had 29 tornadoes!
We average about 13 tornadoes a year across the St. Louis weather service area, which we've more than doubled in two months.
