Spring Flood Outlook
Posted on February 20, 2011 at 7:19 PM
There are near average or greater than average chances for flooding along most of the rivers in the area over the next 90 days. This was determined based on current streamflows and soil moisture (which are near or above normal), upstream snowpack plus forecast rainfall.
Despite the recent warm up here, areas to our north still have a lot of snow and ice on the ground and when that melts, it will lead to problems for us thanks to the runoff.
The worst of it will likely be along the Mississippi River where the St. Louis National Weather Service is forecasting moderate to major flooding.
