Today we tied a 128 year old record high. 67 was the high today and back on this date in 1884. The cold air is locked up North, somethingI explained in a previous blog on why it's been so warm this Winter. And while December was the 13th warmest on record, it appears this January will be the 13th or 14th warmest on record (1 more day to go).
This is quite a contrast from last January when we started the month with an Arctic blast including waking up to 0 one morning. This January we've been as warm as 70 and today's 67 continued the mild trend. In fact, tomorrow will be mild again with a high in the 60s.
Here's a few stats I dug up today:
This January's Average Temp.= 37.4 (1 more day to go though)
January 2011 Average Temp.= 27.7
January 2010 Average Temp.= 27.2
January 2009 Average Temp.= 28.9
So, we haven't had a mild January in quite a while, but we certainly got one this year.
