A Fall Chill

A Fall chill settles over the area late this week, and we'll have some spots dipping into the 30s for lows this week.  Friday will be the coldest morning and has a potential for some patchy frost. Then we slowly warm it up a bit this weekend.  Here's the expected low temperatures as of Tuesday...

Thursday Morning= 40 (as cold as 33 to 35 in rural areas and valleys)

Friday Morning= 37 (as cold as 32 in rural areas and valleys)

Why colder in rural areas and valleys?  The pavement and brick buildings of the city retain their heat more than rural areas.  And in valleys, like the Chesterfield valley, the denser cold air tends to sink into those lower areas.  This is especially true on nights with light winds which we'll have by Friday morning.
