Oh brother, it just keeps coming! So, before I get into some details on the weekend snow chances, I want to make mention of what's happening tonight into Thursday morning. From Rolla to St. Louis to Litchfield and Northwest we don't expect a whole lot of wet weather, but some light rain, sleet, snow is possible with little to no accumulation. Southeast of that line we expect nearly all rain. Although we expect any wet weather to move out just before the morning commute, do watch for patchy ice in the morning due to freezing fog and damp spots on the roads that may ice up. The street sensor forecast has a couple bridges dropping to 31 degrees by 6AM.
As for the weekend, it looks like some accumulation is possible. One of the forecast models we use is showing a few inches possible, with snow showers heaviest in the morning and tapering to light snow and eventually flurries in the afternoon and evening. Another model shows paltry accumulations of maybe 0.5" in St. Louis, though it also starts the snow early Saturday morning in the pre-dawn hours.
So, it's interesting that the timing seems to be similar on two of our models, and we'll look for some consistency with each new run of the forecast model. By the way, there are typically 4 runs a day, the next one will be out after the 10PM news and Matt Chambers will be eyeing that and bring you and changes tomorrow morning on News4 This Morning.
