Thanks to our friends at the National Weather Service for putting together this detailed map of storm totals from our several waves of sleet, freezing rain and some snow. Once again the area South of St. Louis including Potosi, Farmington and over to Sparta, Illinois saw the highest amounts of sleet and freezing rain with over 2" of the mix in some spots (mostly sleet). Kaskaskia, IL (just South of Ste. Genevieve, MO) reported the highest total that I saw come across the wire at 3.5" of mostly sleet.
In metropolitan St. Louis, sleet totals varied greatly. In the city and out to West County in Ellisville reports came in at 1" of sleet. Just North in Alton however, it was only 0.5" of sleet. But as you head North some areas got hit with mostly snow. In fact, a snow burst late Friday morning to early afternoon dropped 1-3" North and Northeast of the metro. Reports from Macoupin county Illinois generally we're 2 to 3" of snow just from Friday, though Palmyra reported 3.5"! Most of us saw a dusting to less than an inch from this snow, but that snow burst just caught a few of our Northern counties.
That's it for this storm! Kent and I see a light area of snow, freezing rain and sleet sliding just to our Southwest and South Sunday morning, but accumulations look to be rather light. Nonetheless that's the next chance of winter mix to watch this weekend, though I think most of us stay dry and will see plenty of melting with highs Saturday in the 30s and Sunday in the 40s.
