Madison county Illinois had tremendous rainfall on Memorial Day as storms continued to develop in the same area. We call that training, and it's almost like each storm is a train car with storm after storm rolling over the same area bringing heavy rain that can quickly cause flooding. While you look at the rainfall totals from Memorial Day below, keep in mind the normal rainfall for St. Louis in the entire month of May is 4.11".

10.5" North of Edwardsville, IL at Fox Creek Golf Course
8" Prairietown, IL Madison Co.
7.47" Bethalto, IL Madison Co.
6.84" Edwardsville, IL Madison Co.
4.50" Glen Carbon, IL Madison Co.
2.20" Belleville, IL St. Clair Co.
2.01" St. Louis Lambert Airport
2.03" Manchester, MO St. Louis Co.

These are just a few of the reports from Monday, May 25th. Tuesday and Wednesday we will still have brief downpours, possibly training over an area and causing more flooding.
