This is my very first blog entry. And I am so excited! This from a person who has one of those multi-fangled cell phones equipped with a camcorder, internet access, and MP3 player. None of which I can operate. I bought it for the big screen and it is a very handy mirror! But let me get to the heart of the matter.
Today several of my female news colleagues and I dressed in red and prepared to paint the town. We had our picture taken for the American Heart Association's "Go Red for Women: Love your Heart" campaign. It's a national effort that encourages women to band together and wipe out heart disease.
I love the timing of this campaign. It's orchestrated to stay on beat with our new year's resolve for a healthier lifestyle. So...here are five quick tips before you rush out the door to the gym...sans granola bar and apple wedges.
1. Celebrate each birthday with a checkup.
2. Get up off the couch...for 30 minutes of exercise most days of the week.
3. Quit smoking in four steps.
4. Drop a pound or two
5. Police the panel...check out the nutrition facts panel on packaged foods
Only you can love your heart. What a romance...and the year is still young! Go Red and tell your friends. Oh, and if you would, please also mention my blog.
