March Do The Right Thing students

On December 26th Joe, Madison, Trevor and Thomas were driving down the street when they realized a neighborhood house was on fire. They turned the car around and ran up to the house, knocked on the door and awakened the occupants. Immediately everyone vacated the house and 911 was called. Neighbors were awakened and came to the rescue with Kristen saving the family dog. We’re happy to report that even though there was extensive damage to the garage and home, everyone was saved. So today we honor Joe Baumgartner, Madison Dehart, Trevor Dehart, Thomas Sickles and Kristen Ohler for doing the right thing. Thanks to their bravery and courage, members of an entire family were saved. St. Louis County Police Officer Paul Gordon who nominated them stated, “Madison, Trevor, Thomas, Joe and Kristen demonstrated caring, kindness, responsibility, courage and serve above and beyond. We are so proud of their accomplishment.”


Lamondra Beckley
Vashon High School

Lamondra is the ultimate helpful student at Vashon. When his teacher had a theft in her classroom of academic materials, Lamondra comforted her and helped its’ safe return. Each day Lamondra demonstrates leadership skills by engaging in classroom activities. Lamondra goes so far as to lead in vocabulary charades so his fellow classmates with participate. Lamondra constantly works towards peaceful solutions when he sees male peers about to fight. Each and every day, Lamondra is not only a good student, but contributes in positive ways. So today we honor Lamondra Beckley for doing the right thing. Thanks to his service to others, work ethic, and responsible actions each and every day, he is truly a role model for all fellow students! His teacher Ms. Anna Moffatt Gardner-Andrews who nominated him stated, “Lamondra is an enthusiastic student who goes over and beyond a typical student. He is a leader by action and is respected by his peers!”


Simone Bernstein

Simeon enjoys volunteering. On a regular basis she spends time at the St. Louis Crisis Nursery. And, last summer she volunteered at the St. Louis Veterans Administration Hospital. Simeone has also developed a local website which is a comprehensive listing for area volunteering for youth. The success of the website inspired a youth and family volunteer fair. And we are happy to announce it is scheduled at the Children’s Museum on April 11th. So today we honor Simeone Bernstein for doing the right thing. Thanks to her leadership skills and service to others, many who are in need of help are being aided. Paula Steiner who nominated her stated, “Simeone spreads the spirit of volunteerism in our community by being a volunteer and inspiring her peers to go get involved in the community.”


Morgan Ellerbrake

Morgan enjoys trying to help others. With all the needs in the world, Morgan decided to spearhead and effort entitled “Soles 4 Souls,” an effort to collect shoes for underprivileged children. So for the past several weeks, Morgan has been recruiting community and school friends to collect the shoes. Morgan has left no stone unturned and has an already collected a great amount of the shoes with a goal of 4,000 in all. So today we honor Morgan Ellerbrake for doing the right thing. Thanks to her service to others and generous spirit, thousands of underprivileged people will receive much needed shoes. Ms. Chery Stutzman who nominated her stated, “I am very proud to recommend Morgan for this prestigious honor as I know she is a well-deserving candidate.”


Tyrese Fields

One day Tyrese noticed his mother was having a serious medical problem. Without hesitation, he called 911 and explained what was occurring to the emergency medical personnel. Then he stayed close to her while awaiting help. In a short period of time, emergency medical help arrived and it was obvious she was experiencing low blood sugar. And, we’re happy to report that she recovered. So today we honor Tyrese Fields for doing the right thing. Thanks to his responsible and caring ways, a serious medical situation was handled appropriately, and his mother received immediate and proper care. Fannie Fuller who nominated him stated, “We owe it all to Tyrese for knowing what to do in an emergency situation. He did the right thing!”


TaShawn Hammonds

One seemingly normal afternoon after school Gwendolyn and TaShawn were riding the bus when they noticed a student with autism was being picked on by some students. All of a sudden it appeared as if a terrible fight was going to break out amongst four students and Gwendolyn and TaShawn broke up the fight twice until the bus driver could pull over. Thanks to Gwendolyn and TaShawn, the fights were brought to a stop and no one was hurt. So today we honor Gwendolyn Lewis and TaShawn Hammonds for doing the right thing. Thanks to their brave and courageous actions, an innocent student was protected and the other occupants of the bus were not injured. St. Louis Police Detective Tracy Hallquist who nominated the children stated, “Thanks to Gwedolyn and TaShawn, things were brought under control so there were no serious injuries. I’m so proud of their actions.”


Rayquell Robson

One afternoon as Rayquell and her mother were riding down the highway, they witnessed a car go out of control and hit a median. Realizing the woman driver was injured, Rayquell immediately jumped out and ran to her aid. It was apparent that the woman was pregnant, so Rayquell pulled her out of the car to safety until emergency medical help could arrive. We’re happy to report the woman recovered. So today we honor Rayquell Robson for doing the right thing. Thanks to her brave and courageous actions, the life of a woman was saved. Rhonda Watson who nominated her stated, “What Rayquell did was so mature and brave—I’m so proud of her. “


Donovan Johnson

A normal day of Donovan and Zachary visiting their grandparents after school suddenly took a turn. As Donovan helped his grandmother in the house, Zachary ran to help his grandpa who was working in the field. Unfortunately, however, Zachary found his grandfather unconscious. He yelled for Donovan and his grandmother to get help, so they called 911. In a short period of time, emergency medical personal arrived and their grandfather was taken to the hospital where he received proper surgery. And we’re happy to report he successfully recovered. So today we honor Donovan and Zachary Johnson for doing the right thing. Thanks to their bravery and courageous actions, the life of their grandfather was saved. Their grandmother, Janet Berry, who nominated them stated, “We are all thankful to our grandchildren for helping both of us.”


Jessica Kuca

Jessica has been concerned about how she can help women who have suffered the effects of breast cancer and pediatric cancer patients. So Jessica decided to hold annual lemonade stands and give the proceeds for pediatric research and to the Susan B. Komen for the Cure research efforts. And we are amazed to report that in 2008 Jessica collected $1,400 and in 2009 she collected $2,700.00 for the causes. So today we honor Jessica Kuca for doing the right thing. Thanks to her generous spirit and service to others, many will benefit in the research to cure pediatric and breast cancer. Donna Riley who nominated her stated, “Jessica has worked so hard to help cancer victims. We are so proud of her.”


Brayden Prichard

One day when Brayden was visiting his great-grandmother, he realized she wasn’t breathing. Immediately he called his mother and 911 for help. Emergency medical help arrived a short time later and it was determined she had suffered a heart attack. But after receiving proper medical care, we’re happy to report she is doing well. So today we honor Brayden Pritchard for doing the right thing. Thanks to his brave and mature actions, his great grandmother received proper and immediate medical attention which saved her life. Katrina Armstrong who nominated Brayden stated, “Due to his heroic actions, his great-grandmother is at home and doing well.”


Quinton Robinson
Hazelwood East High School

Quinton enjoys helping his fellow man. He has coordinated a club called “The Lions Club” recruiting members of the community to belong. He is an honor roll student and plans to attend college and continue his business plans of the Lions Club. Never does he pass someone who is hungry or in need that he doesn’t come to the person’s aid. Quinton is quite the kind and giving person towards those with whom he encounters. So today we honor Quinton Robinson for doing the right thing. His service to others and kindness to those in need make life better for many people in his community. Dorothy Brown who nominated him stated, “He is truly a young man who lives his life trying to ‘Do The Right Thing,’ His efforts are truly worth recognition.”


Garrett Sansoucie
Seckman Middle School
Fox C-6 School District


Garrett truly enjoys school but especially likes helping students with special needs during physical education. At any time he volunteers to help with students who may need help. The students also benefit by having fun in class as well as learning the skills. Thanks to Garrett, many students at Seckman are having very fulfilling days at school in many ways! So today we honor Garrett Sansoucie for doing the right thing. Thanks to his service to others and kindness, many students at Seckman Middle School are successful in many of their activities. His teacher Ed Roberts who nominated him stated, “Thanks to Garrett out there, he makes the world a better place.”
