Makilya Brisby

Makilya is a wonderful big sister. Every day she helps her younger siblings in many ways. First of all, she helps her preschool twin brothers when they go to their bus. She also helps her first grade sister who has special needs making sure she gets to class each day. Well one day at school, her little sister fell and cut her chin on the edge of a step. Makilya stayed with her and helped calm her down and explained what happened when help arrived. Makilya made a big difference in helping her sister so she could receive proper attention. And we’re happy to report her sister is doing just fine! So today we honor Makilya Brisby for doing the right thing. Thanks to her kind and giving ways, her siblings have better days at school. Vasilika Tsichilis who nominated her stated, “Makilya makes sure her sister with special needs eats breakfast and gets to class okay…..she also helps her twin preschool brothers daily by signing them out of preschool and getting them to their bus. She is the ultimate big sister.”


Malyki Cole

Malyki enjoys being helpful in and out of the classroom. At school he is often a peacemaker who tries hard at helping his friends have a good time on the playground. At home, he enjoys helping an elderly neighbor take out her trash. Whenever he sees her struggle, Malyki runs to her aid to be of assistance. Even at the grocery store he’s gone out of his way to help someone in need. Each and every day, Malyki shows acts of kindness and is a helpful to those around him. So today we honor Malyki Cole for doing the right thing. Thanks to his acts of kindness and service to others, he makes a positive difference in the lives of many. Connie Barre who nominated him stated, “Malyki is a diligent worker who always tries his best….he is a helper and a responsible gentleman. It is my pleasure to nominate Malyki.”


Mitchell Daniels

Mitchell, Jack and Brandon are good and helpful members of the Parkview Elementary School community. Each and every day, all three boys go out of their way to be helpful with younger students. So at the end of the school day when things can get quite hectic at dismissal, Mitchell, Jack and Brandon volunteer to be of assistance. With very positive attitudes, all three boys hold doors and help younger students so that dismissal goes well for them. Thanks to their help, the younger students end their day in an organized, positive and safe way. So today we honor Mitchell Daniels, Jack Goacher, and Brandon Loethen for doing the right thing. Thanks to their kind and responsible actions, many young students at Parkview Elementary School have a much better day at school. Ms. Patti Unnerstall who nominated the boys stated, these are the nicest boys you’d ever want to know. We’re lucky to have them at Parkview Elementary.”


Audrey Forshee

Audrey enjoys being a good friend to her fellow students. So when she became acquainted with a classmate who is hearing and speech impaired, she decided she wanted to communicate with her so she would have someone to talk to. On her own, Audrey checked out a sign language book from the library so she could teach herself how to communicate with her friend. Yes, all on her own, Audrey is learning sign language so she can effectively communicate with her friend at school. So today we honor Audrey Forshee for doing the right thing. Thanks to her kindness and caring spirit, a fellow student will have a friend to communicate with at school each day. Laura Asinger who nominated her stated, “We are so proud of Audrey’s compassionate action toward her peer.”


DaMondria Hill
Carriel Junior High School

DaMondria knows how to be very responsible and helpful at school. One evening when there was a drama production at Carriel, a parent lost his cell phone in the parking lot. DaMondria became aware of the situation when there was an announcement about the missing phone at school. Since she had heard talk around school about a student claiming to have the phone, she responsibly reported the information to school administrators. Thanks to her help, proper action was taken and the phone was recovered from the student who took it. And, the phone was then returned to the owner. So today we honor DaMondria Hill for doing the right thing. Thanks to her responsible and proper actions, a person’s property was recovered and returned to the rightful own without incident. Assistant Principal Kelly West who nominated her stated, “DaMondria’s honesty and detailed information allowed us to contact the parent who lost the phone. We thank DaMondria for stepping up and doing the right thing.”


Anya Minor
MICDS


A normal day at lunch suddenly took a turn for Anya one day at school. As she and her friends were eating, one of them began having an allergic reaction to some type of food she had accidentally ingested. Without hesitation, Anya ran for help and told a teacher what was occurring. Within moments, her friend was treated by a school nurse with an epipen injection. She was then taken to the hospital, where we are happy to report she successfully recovered. So today we honor Anya Minor for doing the right thing. Thanks to her brave and responsible actions, a friend’s life was saved. Mr. Jeff Horwitz who nominated Anya stated, “Thanks to Anya’s quick thinking, her friend is fine, but a few seconds later the result may have been different.”


Alexandra Peneston
Henning Elementary School
Triad District #2


Alexandra recently turned 9 years old and had a birthday party. Instead of wanting gifts for herself, Alexandra asked everyone who was invited if they would please bring items for sick children so she could donate them to Children’s Hospital. So, indeed that’s what happened! Her friends who attended her party brought gifts for children who are sick or injured. And, Alexandra in turn personally delivered the gifts for the children! So today we honor Alexandra Peneston for doing the right thing. Thanks to her generosity and kind spirit, many children who are ill and hospitalized received gifts. Mrs. Chandler, her grandmother who nominated her stated, “Alexandra asked that no one get her anything. Instead she asked for gifts for others….she asked for toys for sick children…and she delivered the toys at the hospital.”


Tapley Rasch

Recently one afternoon as Tapley was walking home from a friend’s house, he noticed a three-year old little girl all alone when suddenly she walked into the street. Without hesitation and realizing the danger the child was in, Tapley went into the street and led the child to safety. He then took the little girl to a nearby business and asked them to call police. He stayed with the tiny child, holding her hand, until police arrived and were able to locate the child’s parent. So today, we honor Tapley Rasch for doing the right thing. Thanks to his mature and responsible actions, a young child was taken out of harm’s way. Captain Michael Laws of the Overland Police Department who nominated him stated, “Had Tapley not been aware of his surroundings and recognized the dangerous situation and taken appropriate action, this situation may have turned out much worse. I believe Tapley should be recognized for his concern for others and his willingness to take action.”


Alexis Still
Dubray Middle School
Fort Zumwalt School District

Alexis has a friend whose family has been experiencing hard times. So when her friend recently underwent a heart transplant, Alexis took it upon herself to raise money to help with the expenses. Alexis organized a raffle and sold tickets door to door. She also stood outside a local grocery store selling tickets. All by herself, Alexis raised $817.00 and presented it to the family. So today we honor Alexis Still for doing the right thing. Thanks to her kind actions and caring spirit, a family going through extremely hard times has benefited greatly. Her mother, Sandra Still stated “Alexis did this on her own….I feel she did a great job and was doing it because she was genuinely concerned and wanted to help.”


Zyiere White
Townsend Elementary School
Hazelwood School District


Zyiere enjoys time with his grandmother. One day when she suddenly fell, Zyiere quickly went to her aid. Unfortunately, she had fallen in the past so initially Ziere just thought he needed to help her up. This time was different, however, and she began to slip in and out of consciousness. Without hesitation, Ziere called his mother and told her what was happening. He then ran to the neighbors for help. We’re happy to report that medical help arrived a short time later, and his grandmother received appropriate help and successfully recovered. So today we honor Zyiere White for doing the right thing. Thanks to his mature and responsible actions, his grandmother’s life was saved. His aunt, Nikita Clarke who nominated him stated, “Without Zyiere’s actions, my mother would have slipped into a diabetic coma……I am and will always be grateful and very proud of Zyiere for his courageous and brave acts to save his grandmother.”
