News 4 St. Louis Anchor, Reporter, Donna Savarese  

Donna Savarese joined KMOV Channel 4 in September 2002 as an Anchor/Reporter for "News 4 St. Louis." She currently co-anchors the weeknight 6 p.m. newscast with Russell Kinsaul, and provides reports for News 4 at 5 and 10 p.m.

Donna has 16 years of television experience, both as an anchor and a reporter. Before coming to St. Louis, she worked as as Weekend Anchor/Reporter at KHWB-TV in Houston, Texas. She also anchored at WJXX-TV in Jacksonville, Fla., WFSB-TV in Hartford, Conn. and WWLP-TV in Springfield, Mass.

In October 2006 Donna was honored with two Emmy awards. In the first, Donna took viewers behind closed doors to a profile a mysterious order of Catholic nuns known as the Poor Clares. Donna’s second Emmy was won after she traveled to New York City to attend the Baby Phat fashion show and profile the label’s founder and St. Louis' own – Kimora Lee Simmons.

Donna received the prestigious Radio-Television News Directors Association "Edward R. Murrow" Award in 2006 for "For the Love of Laura," a report about the devotion of a young husband for his wife who remains in a coma after a serious traffic accident.

Donna's passion for military reporting has taken her on two exclusive missions. In April of 2006 she flew on an F-15 Eagle with the Air National Guard's 131st Fighter Wing out of Lambert Airport in St. Louis. She flew at 9 g's with two other fighter jets on a training mission over Illinois. In 2003 Donna also flew aboard a KC-135 tanker out of Scott Air Force Base as attack jets were being flown to the Middle East in preparation for the war with Iraq.


Recognition for Donna's outstanding news coverage includes a 2005 Emmy nomination for her exclusive interview with the St. Louis Cardinal's former batting coach, who was battling an addiction.

Donna has conducted several exclusive interviews with Cardinals Manager Tony LaRussa examining the highlights of both the 2004 and 2006 World Series. In 2003 Donna was the first local reporter to show St. Louis LaRussa's newly-opened multi-million dollar animal shelter in Walnut Creek, California.

In another exclusive report, Donna took viewers on tour with local Nascar legend Rusty Wallace in Pheonix shorly before he retired.


Donna Savarese has also become very involved in the St. Louis community. She is a strong supporter of Therapeutic Horsemanship in Wentzville, an organization that helps rehabilitate physically and emotionally disabled children through horseback riding. In fact, one of her stories on "News 4 St. Louis" won the organization a $25,000 grant. The funds covered five rent payments at the organization's new facility.

Donna is a graduate of Fairfield University in Connecticut, with a bachelor of arts degree in political science. In her spare time she enjoys working out at the gym, reading, playing piano, rollerblading, and taking care of her orange tiger cat, Tabitha.
